I have been fretting over my life and my schedule for a while now. With everything I have going on now, going back to school mainly I have realized I don't have enough days in the week! I have sat down and I think I can get by without my job.

It is such a scary thought!!

But this morning I turned in my letter resigning my full time position. I knew I would be nervous doing it, but expected at some point It would be replaced with relief and excitement.

When does that get here?!?!

So I've made it through the first few days of Kindergarten w/out shedding too many tears. I was sad to let my guy go but every day he has come home excited so that has made it easier on me. I survived the 1st day and the 1st full day w/out getting all teary eyed but man when he got that last Imagination Library book in the mail today, I lost it. Look Out Kindergarten Here I Come, you are on my "I don't like you" list now. You made me think about my little boy and how grown up he is and I don't like that. I guess it was the final straw in an emotional couple of weeks.

At least there haven't been any reported fatalities in this one. Now let's just hope there is no leaking oil.

"An offshore petroleum platform exploded and was burning Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast, west of the site where BP's undersea well spilled after a rig explosion.

The Coast Guard says no one was killed in the blast, which was reported by a commercial helicopter flying over the area Thursday morning. All 13 people aboard the rig have been accounted for, with one injury. The extent of the injury was not known.

Coast Guard Cmdr. Cheri Ben-Iesau said some of those from the rig were spotted in emergency flotation devices.

Seven Coast Guard helicopters, two airplanes and three cutters were dispatched to the scene from New Orleans, Houston and Mobile, Ala., Ben-Iesau said. She said authorities do not know whether oil was leaking from the site.

The Department of Homeland Security said the platform was in about 2,500 feet of water and owned by Mariner Energy of Houston. DHS said it was not producing oil and gas.

The Deepwater Horizon rig leased by BP was in about 5,000 feet of water when it exploded and sank in April, killing 11 workers and triggering a leak of about 206 million gallons of oil."

Yesterday this wacko went to Discovery Channel HQ and held some employees hostage in an attempt to get the channel "stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants."

"Authorities gave an "all clear" early Thursday after sweeping the headquarters of the Discovery Channel in Silver Spring, Maryland, where police shot and killed a man who was holding three hostages.

Montgomery County Police said no active explosive devices were in the building, but authorities didn't say if any bombs had been found there. Earlier, Police Chief J. Thomas Manger said a number of devices in backpacks would have to be rendered safe.

The suspect killed by police was identified by Manger as James Lee. The hostages were unharmed, he said."

They just announced the line-up for Movies on Market Square yesterday.

The Library's popular outdoor movie series will return to Market Square for the 7th year of free family fun in front of the silver screen! The series will run for six Friday nights, from September 10 through October 15. The movies begin at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.).
The Lineup:
September 10: Iron Man (PG-13)
September 17: Charlotte's Web (G)
September 24: Cats and Dogs (PG)
October 1: Pretty in Pink (PG-13)
October 8: The Spy Next Door (PG)
October 15: Hitchcock's North by Northwest (not rated)

The final line up includes selections that were not offered in the popular Pick the Flicks vote because of certain licensing restrictions. The Library was unable to guarantee a small enough audience to obtain viewing rights to those films. Our apologies for the mix-up, and we hope you enjoy the substitute films.

I don't know how many of you are aware of the plans Disney has for Disney World in 2013. Toontown is being completely torn out as is most of the current Fantasyland. Here's what is being added:
http://land.allears.net/blogs/dnews/...resorts_2.html

At first, I have to say I was a little bummed as the mother of a DD not at all into princesses and a DS. However, then I started reading about the Cars area and the revamped Dumbo area, and the Pixie Hollow area. I think this could be really, really great.

Now what I'm worried about is that we are going in 2011, and I hope it isn't already all torn up and under construction because that is easily the best part of the park currently. Anyone know?

Knoxville.com just posted this list.

"The Knoxville Tourism & Sports Corporation has compiled this list of the Top 10 spots from which you can see the glory of Boomsday. Curiously, watching from home beats out four "in-person" vantage points on this list.

10. Neyland Stadium Parking Garage (G10)
9. James White's Fort
8. Ruth's Chris Steak House
7. Calhoun's on the River
6. Home
5. The Tennessee Riverboat
4. Volunteer Princess
3. Mabry-Hazen House
2. Boating on the Tennessee River
1. Neyland Drive

Details after the jump.

Here are the details on the KTSC suggestions:

10. Neyland Stadium Parking Garage (G10) - Let the tailgating begin. Families and friends from across East Tennessee arrive early to reserve their parking space and spot for Boomsday.

9. James White's Fort - Arrive early and grab a seat for a spectacular view of the fireworks from the James White Fort's lawn. Parking is available for $10 per car.

8. Ruth's Chris Steak House - Boomsday Fireworks & Dinner - Celebrate Labor Day weekend with specials from Ruth's Chris Steak House. Specials include a $39.95 three course dinner, Happy Hour until 7 p.m., and a great view of the fireworks from the patio area. For reservations, call 865-546-4696.

7. Calhoun's on the River - Enjoy BBQ, ribs, and fireworks on the River. Calhoun's is a great spot to grab dinner and watch the fireworks from the deck. Call 865-673-3355 for "call-ahead" seating.

6. Home - Many East Tennesseans enjoy coming to the Boomsday Festival early, and then returning home to enjoy the fireworks on television. WBIR-TV/Channel 10 will air its live "2010 Boomsday Festival" special from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, September 5 and rebroadcast it from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept. 6 on 10News2. Listen to Star 102.1 radio for the soundtrack simulcast, as well as updates throughout the day.

5. The Tennessee Riverboat - Boomsday 2010 Riverboat Cruise - Cruise down the Tennessee River and enjoy a one hour cruise, cash bar, DJ and music, great view of the fireworks spectacular, and barbecue chicken, pork, and ribs for an additional cost. The Tennessee Riverboat Cruise will board at 6 p.m. and the cost is $25 for a table of four.

Ten News hopes you'll participate in a new public safety campaign we're starting and take a pledge to avoid sending and reading texts while driving.

We call it The Great Hang Up.

A survey by AAA shows 95% of drivers consider texting while driving dangerous, but almost 20% do it anyway.

A Car & Driver experiment found a texting driver is more impaired than one who is legally drunk.

Researchers at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville have used a driving simulator in the Transportation Research Lab to compare students driving to students driving while texting.

Most of you will say you don't do it now. But we know there are other out there (and perhaps writing this thread) who tend to text/drive.

Even if you don't do it now, you can join the pledge! Will you join?

Oh my goodness, today was only J's 4th day of K but the amount of paperwork he has brought home has been unreal. For the most part I've been laying it on the kitchen table and going through it each night but there are a lot of things I need to keep for later (picture order form, reminders from teacher, etc) I only have so much space on my fridge to hang things and the slot where I put mail isn't really big enough. So, how do you keep all that paperwork organized?

DD just started Kindergarten and bought lunch for the 1st time today. She was really excited b/c it was pizza day and Wednesdays are when they let them buy ice cream. But when I picked her up she was upset b/c she said she only had time to eat her corn and a few bites of pizza before time was up and she never even got to open her ice cream :( She said that she wasn't wasting time talking or anything so I wonder if it just takes a long time to make it thru the line? So far she hasn't been too pressed for time when she has taken her lunch. The only advice I could think to give her was to eat faster, LOL!
